01Plain-English summary

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to show those ads, to stop the same ad appearing over and over, to catch fraud, and — only if you agree — to pick ads based on your interests.

When you first visit from the UK, EEA or Switzerland, Google's consent message asks you to choose: Consent, Do not consent, or Manage options. Say no and Google can still show ads, but limited ones: not based on you, and without advertising cookies.

We run no analytics today. Our own banner is ready for it, and it stays off until you opt in.

02What a cookie actually is

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise the browser next time. Related technologies — localStorage, pixels, SDKs — do much the same job, and UK law treats them the same way. Where this policy says "cookie", it means all of them.

UK law lets us set cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you asked for without permission. Everything else needs your consent first.

03What's set on this site

Google may change the cookies it uses. Its own list is at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies. There is no social media pixel and no session cookie — this is a static site with nothing to log you into.

04The categories we use

Strictly necessary — always on. Cookies the site can't sensibly work without: the records of your consent choices above. These don't need your permission, and you can't switch them off here, though your browser can block them.

Advertising — off unless you consent. Google's cookies for showing, measuring and personalising ads. In the UK, EEA and Switzerland they are only set once you choose Consent, or allow them under Manage options. Choose Do not consent and you may still see ads, but they won't use advertising cookies or be based on you.

Analytics — off unless you turn it on. Reserved for measuring which pages get read so we know what to improve. None is running at the moment. If we add one it will appear in the table above before it is switched on, and it will stay dormant until you opt in.

05Third parties that see something

A cookie isn't the only way data leaves your browser. Loading a page can hand your IP address to whoever hosts the scripts or images on it, without setting a single cookie.

Google. Pages with ads load Google's ad and consent scripts from Google's servers, so Google sees your IP address and basic browser details whenever you open one — even before you answer the consent message, because that's how the message itself is shown. Google acts as a separate controller for this data under its own privacy policy. How Google uses it: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Fonts and images are served from our own hosting. There is no Google Fonts request, no tag manager, no embedded video and no social widget.

The enquiry form is the one place data deliberately leaves your browser for us, and only when you press send.

06Changing your mind

Consent isn't a one-time decision.

Ads: use the Privacy and cookie settings link that Google's consent message leaves on the page to reopen it and change your answer.

07Controlling cookies in your browser

Your browser gives you the final say, and it applies to every site rather than just this one. Every major browser lets you view and delete existing cookies, block third-party cookies, block everything, or clear the lot when you close it. Look under Privacy or Security in your settings.

Blocking everything is fine here — you'll lose the memory of your choices, so the consent messages will greet you each visit.

08Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. The ads on this site are controlled by your answer to Google's consent message, not by these signals — so to say no to advertising cookies, use the message or your browser's cookie controls.

09Changes

If we add anything that sets a cookie, this page and the table in section 03 get updated before it goes live, and you'll be asked again so you can make a fresh choice.
